‘Textiles as art

STUDENTS OF Capilano College's textile arts pro-
gram put their work on display this Monday. April 29,
The exhibidon of sculpture. wall hangings, costumes and
fabric takes place on campus inthe Arbutus Building. The col-
lege is located at 2058 Purcell Way.. North Vancouver,
Students et the Qwo-year program gain experience in print-
ing. weaving. dying. felt- muking, lapestry weaving, busketry
and other fibre art techniques.
A discussion of program content will be held on April 29 at
6:30 p.m. Exhibition hours are Mond. io Friday, 12 to 4 p.m.

Jacket?

A. Linen is in the fashion spotlight again
this spring. But heed these words of advice if
you wart to keep your linen fashions crisp
and cool.

linen 1s washable, but it can shrink if it
has not been preshrunk by the manufacturer.
‘As with all textile apparel, check the label
befure laundering.

To wash linens in a washing machine, use
watm water and a short, gentle cycle, Dry
garments on a clothing rack or hanger. {f the
linen is heavy, you can put the garment in
the drycr fer about 10 minutes to remove
excess moisture.

If you take your linen to the drycleaner. it
can be cleaned and pressed for a profession-
al look which is difficult, if not impossible, to
achieve with home laundering. Drycleaning
ako: prevents disproportionate shrinkage of
linen garments. Be. sure to have all the
pieces of your linen outfits drycleaned at the
same time to avoid color differences.

Don't try to remove stains yourself, Blot
up any spill and have the garment
drycleaned as soon as possible to avoid a
permanent stain. Tell your IFl member
drycieaner exactly where the stain is and
