THE FOLLOWING is a
selection of volunteer oppor-
tunities available through
North Shore Community
Services (NSCS).

A recreation volunteer is
needed to work with elementary
school children from 2:30 to 5:30
p.m. during the weekday at a drop-
in club. There is a structured pro-
gram that volunteers can run or
help run.

Leaders with first-aid skills
for a Cadet Group are needed to
help supervise and administer
their first-aid activities to the pub-
lic at sport events and other activi-
ties.

General office help is needed
for a North Shore agency.
Answering phones, cleaning
equipment and other general office
tasks.

Education docent working
with school program curator, vol-
unteers deliver hands-on program-
ming at the museum.

Attention collectors. If you
enjoy working with objects and
would like to be in a group atmos-
phere this would be a good oppor-
tunity for you. Training is provid-
ed.

A LONG-AWAITED tral will be
built through greenbelt in the West
Vista subdivision of West Vancouver.

The plan for the trail doesn't have
the full approval of all of the

will abut it, but Parks and Reercation
Director Kevin Pike has indicated that

One abutting resident, Bill Dye,
was unhappy that a portion of the trail
will come close to his property line.

concemed that people walking the
trail will threaten the privacy and
safety of his yard.

Supported by Caulfeild Ratepay-
ers President Victor Durman, Dye
suggested that the trail be deflected

from his property line to the other size
of a rock bluff.

Martin Corporation has indicated
that it does not approve of Dye’s plan,
which would push the trail further
into its undeveloped land. The pur-
pose of the trail system in the
Caulfeild Land Use Contract area is
to create a network of pedestrian
routes linking —_ neighborhoods,
schools, parks and natural features.
