THE 1995 soccer season for high
school girls in B.C. will long be
remembered as the year of the North
Shore.

Last month, Argyle Pipers blanked Oak
Bay 3-nil to capture the B.C. triple-A crown
in Chilliwack, while Windsor Dukes edged
Westsyde 2-! to claim the B.C. double-A
tide in Langley.

Windsor's championship victory made it
two in a row for the always strong Dukes,
who Jast year also defeated Westsyde fer the
B.C. double-A championship,

For the Pipers, their strong season saw
the emergence of a rising — if not risen —
young talent. Though just in Grade 9, Argyle
striker Rosalyn Hicks scored eight goals in
five games at the B.C. championships en
route to tournament Most Outstanding
Player honors. Her teammates Sarah
Cunningham and Veronica Lie, both in
Grade 12, were named to the tournament first
ajl-star team.

Argyle's championship run marked the
first time a North Shore girls’ team won the
B.C. triple-A tournament. Last year, Sentinel
made it to the triple-A finals before being
defeated. Argyle is coached by Mike Yee and
Matt Judd, while the Dukes are coached by
Steve Garland and Gordie Simpson.
