A 24-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was killed early Sunday
| morning in a motor vehicle accident on the Burrard Street Bridge.

Emil Stepanian of #203-270 West First St. North Vancouver died
after his northbound 1988 Honda Civic crossed the bridge’s centre
line at approximately 12:15 a.m. and turned sideways into the path
of an oncomiag Black Top cab.

The Honda was hit behind the driver's door and torn apart.

An elderly passenger in the taxi and the taxi’s driver were also
injured in the accident.

A Vancouver Police spokesman said the accident is under in-
vestigation.

Hearing set
in steroid case

| A MAY 18 preliminzry hearing hes been set in North Vancouver
proviacial court for 2 29-year-old Burnaby man charged with traf-
ficking in anabolic steroids.
N Luigi Lecarino was originally arrested Feb. 15 and
charged with trafficking in a Schedule F drag as defined under the
1 Food and Drag Act foliowing a combined investigation by North
Vancouver end Barnaby RCHIP drug squads that resulted in a
] selzare of steroids worth an estimated $100,000 on the black mar-
ket.
The seizure was one of the largest hauls of illicit steroids in Ca-
wadian history.
The preliminary hearing is scheduled to take one day.

Probation ordered

for UIC fraud

A 30-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was placed on probation
for three months after he pleaded guilty Mzrch 1 in North Van-
couver provincial court to 18 counts of making false statements on
his unemployment insurance report cards.

Ransid Davidson was originally charged with 24 counts of mak-
ing false statements on his report cards in connection with incidents
between June 21, 1987 and May 22, 1988 in which he allegedly
reported that be did not work while he was collecting unemploy-
ment insurance benefits. -

Appearing before Judge J.B. Paradis, Davidson pleaded guilty
to 18 of the 24 couats and was placed on probation for three mon-
ths.

The Crown entered a stay of proceedings in the other six counts.
