groups

THE SPIRIT of giving and
buying Christmas trees go
hand in hand for many dur-
ing the holiday season.

While Christmas trees can
be bought at almost any
street corner, only a few
locations are selling trees to
raise money for non-profit
groups.

In North and West Van-
couver the Lions clubs and
the Boy Scouts of Canada
are the two largest groups
selling trees to raise money
for worthy causes.

The Mount Seymour
Lions group has pledged
$12,000 to Timmy's
Christmas Telethon and
hopes to raise half of that
through the sale of regular
and cultured trees from its
stand at Woolco in the
Capilano Mall.

However, the group is
hard pressed to compete,
says Seymour Lion Gary
against Save-On-
Foods.

North Shore Lions clubs
are also selling Christmas
trees at the “Lynn Valley

Seymour Park Way.

couver location is on the
south side of Park Royal,
outside the bowling alley.
