Ga mailbox Dear Editor ] would like to comment on the letter of the day in the June 20th edition of the North Shore News called ‘Pub Opposition Unjustified’’ ] have lived for 14 years within five houses of the Raven Inn, which formerly was called the Spanish Inn. | find the arguments and fears brought forward by the residents of the Norgate area regarding the proportional increase of litter, violence and vandalism quite appropriate. In the last few years since the then ‘‘quiet Spanish Inn’”’ was transformed into a pub, | have lost 3 mirrors, 2 of them on the roadside and one on the curbside. ! also lost five antennas off my van. It has been ‘‘hit and run’’ three times and = sideswiped last week, mostly by people try- ing to turn around in a drive- way in the middle of the block, mostly due to traffic congesuon. The last 100 feet of our block have a yellow curb which means in my estima- tion “‘no parking or stopping at any time.’ The reason tor the yellow curb is that motorists entering the tnter- section from Strathcona Road into deep Cove Road are unable to do so safely due to a blind corner. This was the reason why the District played gardener and cut our shrubs down to six inches What godd does that do when vou have, on a busy pub mght, cars parked right down to the corner, sul even more obscuring traffic Last time | appealed to our mayor, if Was so important bo her that I did not even get an answer, let alone any action Now about the pub itself It is a very nice pub It has about 32 parking spaces Having a ' Group | Function? | Call us. mm Life near a pub ts not much fun Sounds good but it has 114 seats plus ‘‘standing room”’ Most of the people arrive by car, mostly single or in twos. That makes 57 to 70 cars on any busy might. Which of course means that pub patrons’ cars are parked all over the neighbourhood. Anybody who arrives home late from work at 4 to 4:30 p.m. or later, is not able to park in front of his own home or within the same block for that matter. Then at closing time you have some arguments and discussion in front of your house, let alone that some male pub patron has the urge to relieve himself on the front lawn before getting into his car. Then, of course, every few days we have to go out and clean up empty beer cases, beer bottles and broken beer mugs from the bushes in the front. 1 am not surprised that one of my neighbours wishes to sell his house. I would, too, just to get away, but then we like our place and I think that we have a right to live here and sooner or later enough residents who live close by will voice their opinion and maybe even the mayor will hhsten Ray Leeb North Vancouver Its Air Tight Running Mates Pacific Energy Super 43 and 27 ° Clearances 2 - Inside or Outside arr - Pedestal base « Brass door with full view of fire © 265 CFM blower with variable spood ° Ash Drawer clean Out e individual primary and secondary Controls et4t Temp Glass Standard Feature See them in full operation in the Home Showcase Building Pacific National Exhibition and take advantage of our Show special paces A9 - Wednesday, August 15, 1984 - North Shore News Giant 1st ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION! 9 y having a year end inventory Clearance Sale. g in Sta a on Sale. > a, | Wipers $39.95 ; pair Teg. ha9 88 Ansa Dual Tip Turbo Kromes $32.95 each - TR3 Resin Glaze $1.95 te much more. reg: - $39.95 Pirellis / Yokohamas / Phoenix/Konis iKYB wheels / Shocks / Suspension parts / Auxillary lights _ seats / Ansa & Monza exhaust / Kamei Spoilers / Steering V : for / Suspension Techniques - Carrera Enterprises 11451D Bridgeport Rd.
