GOLD FOR CHENA NORTH SHORE’S Chena Swim Club returned on a high note from the B.C. Pro- vincial age group champion- ships held in Victoria over the weekend. Led by sixteen year old Steve Ingo, who. captured two gold medals, the team turned in an out- standing performance. She also placed filth in the 200 Back, seventh in the 100 Breast, eighth in the 50 Free, and eighth in the 200 Back. Michelle Woods placed seventh in the 200 Free and eighth in both the 200 Breast and 800 Free. Kenny McCormack (11 years), who was seeded eleventh, finished fourth in the gruciling {500 meter Free style. Graeme Kennedy made the finals and placed sixth in the 100 Fly and Gillian Mor- fitt came home with an eighth place finish in the 200 Breast. In the relay events the club alsa showed impressive strength: picking up one Silver and three Bronze. Of the 20 swimmers from Chena who participated, 18 achicved personal best times in the long course competi- tion. Chena will be sending twelve athletes to the Western Junior Canadian Nationals which will be held in Vancouver next week. At the same time, Chena’'s Yvonne Hicks who is cur- rently nationally ranked will be attempting to improve her standing by competing in the Senior Canadian Na- tional Sprint events held in Montreal.
