Salmon came to
Squamish Waters’

very long time ago, no salmon came to Squamish
waters. The Tyee Siyam (the highly respected ieader)
was very sad and feeling heavy of heart because his
“people, winter after winter, suffered immense hardships.
Gathering his people together, they offered a prayer song to
the great Creator, to the one who guides, protects and
provides, to help the Squamish people with their dilemma.
The Creator sends the transformers, who possess
enormous supernatural powers. The transformers are three
brothers that travel in a sea-going canoe. The transformers
reward the good and punish the bad.
" The Squamish people, who have prepared themselves -
mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually — guided

- by the: transformers — embark upon a journey to: the -
homeland of the Salmon people.
