IT’S BEEN anything but a quiet
time lately at the North Van-
couver City Library.

The facility is going through a
$650,000 renovation project
scheduled for completion some-
time this summer.

In the meantime, library users
are having to _put up with some
inconveniences, but, according to
chief librarian Joe Lavery, it’s still
business as usual.

Program ming for children be-
tween two and 12 years of age is
still held 11 times a week in the
children’s department,and elemen-
tary school teachers can retrieve
special collections of sub-
ject-related books.

Library improvements include a
new elevator, new handicapped-
accessible washrooms and change
rooms for babies, better use of
available space and a new larger
taped books room.
