Institute of Technology in Burnaby on March 15 from 8 a.m.to4p.m. The workshop, sponsored by the Science Council of B.C., will help small and medium-sized companies deal with the rapidly changing rules and regulations regarding what they can and cannot do as far as environmental protection is concerned, according to David Roberts, Science Council of B.C. spokesman. More than 100 people will be accepted into the workshop, so early registration is recommended. KIRK JOHNSON, general manag- er of North Vancouver's Lonsdale Quay Hotel, has been appointed the new president of the Van- couver Hotel Association. He suc- ceeds Michael Lambert, general manager of the Hotel Vancouver. “f am very excited,’’ said Johnson. ‘‘] know there's going to be hard work involved, but I have a lot of ideas for the 1990's. Johnson has over 20 years of ex- tensive experience in the Canadian and United States hotel industries. He joined Lonsdale Quay in 1987 and has built a team of profes- sionals. Under his leadership they have created a hotel, night club, restau- rant and bar into a thriving centre of activity. Johnson is currently a board director of Tourism Vancouver, the Tourism Association of Southwest B.C., and a former director of the Greater Vancouver Big Brothers Association and the Vancouver Central Lions Club. The Vancouver Hotel Associa- tion represents 32 hotels throughout the Greater Vancouver area with a mandate to serve its members with solutions to com- mon difficulties. The association works closely with its provincial counterpart, the B.C. and Yukon Hote! Associa- tion, and is concerned with devel- oping strong federal and provincial government relations.
