program
continues

‘FOR THE past 20 years the Law
Students Legal Advice Program
has provided free legal services to
those who cannot afford a lawyer.

‘During the school year, students.

volunteer their time during the
evenings to meet with clients at
various locations throughout the
Lower Mainland.

Under the direction of the pro-
grani’s supervising lawyer Brian
Higgins, students draft wills,
prepare small claims summons and
help clients file for uncontested
divorces. Students also provide
legal assistance in areas such as
landlord/tenant disputes, UIC,
WCB, welfare and consumer com-
plaints.

Last year approximately 5,000
people received assistance through
the program.

The directory contains a current
listing of 177 self-help groups, as
well as start-up information and
resources for self-helpers.

distributed by the United Way of
the Lower Mainland and costs $8.

reation Centre for a two-day
workshop introducing improvisa-
tional theatre and play acting to
teens.

Maury Peterman, an_ ex-
theatresports actor, will use role-
playing techniques, spontaneous
acting and creative thinking to
create a comfortable and enjoyable

setting. Theatresports is a fast-

paced and spontaneous form of
theatre that develops confidence
and team playing.

The workshop, Thursday, Sept.
21, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and Friday,
Sept. 22, 3:30 to 10 p.m., will con-
clude with A Night at the Improv
at Vancouver's Back Alley
Theatre.

Cost for the two-day session is
$40 which includes theatre, dinner
on Friday and transportation
downtown. Registration is limited.
