28 - Sunday, Fehruary 15, 1987 - North Shore News Travel - ADVICE ON POST-WEDDING PRIORITIES rmoneymoon vs. HAVING only participated in one honeymoon I’m hardly qualified to give any advice on the subject. After all, it was so long ago that I barely reraember it. However, it must have been something of a success. With today’s assortment of liv- ing arrangements there’s no pat answer to planuing a honeymoon. For example, the couple that has been living together for five years before they decide they know each other well enough to get married doesn’t have to worry about hurry- ing home to set up an apartment. travel wise decided to write to you for some advice. We are getting married this spring and have the wedding all planned except for deciding on a destination for our honeymoon. By living at home with our parents (separately, that is) we’ve managed to save over. $7,000 be- tween us towards either an extend- ed trip or a down payment on a condo. We have absolutely no debts — both our cars are paid for and our parents are financing the wedding. This has ben a very difficult decision for us to make. On one hand, we feel that if we don’t take advantage of this opportunity to travel it might be the last time in condo many years that we can do it. Both sets of parents are advising holding onto the money and get- ting our own place as soon as possible. We know that you've got kids about our age, but the difference between you and our parents is that you’ve done so much travel so you can see the other side of it. Could we have some comments from you? Answer: ['m certainly not going to give you any firm ‘‘do or don’t’’ answer — which ever way you choose must be your own decision. I can see your parents’ viewpoint, but since you two were responsible enough to save that sum of money I’m sure you could do it again for either purpose.
