THE RUGBY action was fast and furious at Kinsman Stadium on the weekend as the Cats

IT WAS a clean sweep last
weekend for Capilano
Rugby Club, with three divi-
sions defeating the Kats at
Klahanie Park.

The first division game
began in a see-saw first half,
with the Kats coming out
ahead 6-3. Doug Mulligan
scored 3 points with a kick
for Capilanos.

in the second half, the
pressure put on by the
Capilanos proved too much
for the Kats. Jim Mossip

kicked for 3 points to tie the
game, and Tim Murdy ran
for a 4 point tri. Doug
Mulligan kicked for an addi-
tional 3 point to secure the
game with a 13-9 victory for
the Capilanos.

The second division took
the Kats 13-7, with Shane
Cable kicking for 5 points,
and John Olmstead and
Doug Speranza both scoring
tries.

Robin Dyke, Brian Buckles,
and Paul Fenton scored to

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

CARSON GRAHAM Eagles
have won the North Shore
playoffs,

Losers of only one league
game all season, the girls
went on to capture the North
Shore Championship by
defeating Howe Sound.

The team was honored
with four out of the eight all
stars for the season: Ist

Kathleen Nielly (tst),
Daphne Armstrong (4th),
Laureen Lohin (6th), and
Jannine Cook (8th).

They then represented the
North Shore ai the Crehan
Cup at Burnaby Central last
week where they beat
Killarney 68-24 and Rich-
mond 54-38.

In the final game,

beat the Kats 16-10.
Capilano's Junior team
was victoricus as well,
defeating the Ex-Britannia
Rugby Club of Vancouver.

Next weekend Capilanos
play x-Brits at Clinton
Park on Ist and Naniamo in
Vancouver, The Capilanos
play rugby at Klahanie Park
every other Saturday begirin-
ing at 11 a.m. for the 3rds
and 4ths, | p.m. for the 2nd
division, and at 2:30 p.m.
for the Ist division.

Steveston edged them our by
a seore of 59-48 for their 3rd
straight championship.

Kathicen Nielly and second
All Star went to) Laureen
Lohin.

The team now advances to
the B.C. Finals in) Prince
George March 20th to 23rd.
