Club Flames split again

Winter

THE JUNIOR B_ Flames
can’t seem to put two good
games together. Their incon-
sistency has coach Nick Sita
in a quandry. They lost 8-5 to
the lowly Grandview Steelers
Tuesday night blowing a 4-1
lead. The defense were get-
tung caught up ice which
resulted in the Flames having
to take a number of penalties
and allowed the Steelers
numerous two on one and
three on one chances. On
Saturday night at home they
were in complete control of
Ladner leading 5-2 with (hae
minutes left in the gang®™but
the Flames had one-of their
lapses and the Rebels’ scored
two goals in less than thirty
seconds to make # close. The
final score was 5-4. Cam
Drew had an_ outstanding
game on defence and also led
the way offensively scoring
twice.

Singles were scored by Bob
McQuay, Paul Tadey and
Jim Wilson. Garth Tubman
had a relatively easy time in
the nets for the Flames in
recording his fifth win of the
year.

Next up for the Flames ts
the powerful Seattle
Americans Saturday night at
the Winter Club, 8:15 p.m.

Soccer's best

BRAVOS ST. ALICE gained
revenge for an early season
at South Memorial in divi-
sion 1B soccer action.

Strong. performances by
Ed Thomas and Jeff Jackson
each with a_ goal helped
Bravos to maintain their fine
record to date of six wins and
two losses.

The bumpy field at South
Memorial did not allow too
much in the way of smooth
playing soccer, however the
solid Bravos defense an-
chored by Grant Stevens,
Mike Watt, Gary Ofner and
Ken Powers kept all the
Eldorado attaacks in check,
and helped Rob Rutley to his
third shut out of the season
Next game for Bravos ts Sun-
day 2 pm Nov. 4 against
Ambleside at Cleveland
