By Kate Zimmerman Contributing Writer “At the time of the arrest, the detective felt there was sufficient evidence for a charge to be faid,” said a spokesman for the West Vancouver Police. Later, he said, the Cros: decided it required more information. The woman, the wife of the man facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death, is still under investiga- tion. West Vancouver Police arrested 45-year-old Rashida (Khan as she approached the Douglas border crossing to the United States with several companions Tuesday evening. She had been under sur- -veillunce for some tine. ‘The body of Naazish Khun was discovered in the irunk of a Toyota Camry in Coquitlam on Dec. II. Police determined thut she had been asphyxiated and charged her father- in-law, Abdur Rashid Khan, with second- degree murder. Naazish, 23, married Khan’ year-old son Faisal in India earlier inis year, without their families’ consent. She was a Hindu, Faisal is a Mustim. The young couple had been liv- ing in -Abdur Khan's British Properties home since arriving in Canada four months ago. Since the murder, Faisal has moved out, Naazish had given birth to a daughter two months before her death; the baby, Aliya, is now with the ministry of social services, A trust fund hus been set up by social worker Raj Dial and her friend Pushba Rabs in the-name of Aliya Khan at Canada Trust loca- tions, The account number is 590202.
