The store features well-made casual separates in heavy cotton which is generously cut and simply shaped. Rachelle Desforges Wendt, owner of Gauche Designs, has been designing since she was eight years old, Originally from Mon- trea! and schooled in design at colleges in Toronto and in Houston, she is also experienced in natural dyeing, weaving, dolil-making and doll clothing design. Deforges Wendt states, ‘‘I have found that the West Coast woman wants comfort first, and then style. She is looking for unrestric- tive clothing that will work for her WOOFs, - From poge 14 for casualwear. 6. The Vigilante Consumer — The consumer manipulates the marketplace through pressure, protesting, politics and the rebell- ‘ing demands for real products, real benefits, real communications through advertising, and real peo- ple behind them. 7. Staymg Alive — Awareness that good heaith extends life leads dual career, both at home and at the office. “She also wants quality at an affordable price, and therefore | sell my clothing at very reasonable prices because | have cut out the middle man.” All clothing is designed and manufactured in North Vancouver and is sold directly through her shop. They are siz- ed extra small, small, medium, large and extra large. .A favorite in the store is an A- line tent dress with lots of flare at the hemline.
