Rangers controlled most of the play from the opening whistle but were unable to break through the tough Pemberton Station defence, and the first half ended 0-0. The almost constant pressure began to tell in the second half as Jan Solheim broke through to ring a sharp-angle shot off the post and it seemed only a matter of time be- fore Midas would find the range. Finally, Steve Frewin forced the ball into the Station net from 4 scramble after a corner kick to break the deadlock. Shortly after, a hard shot from right wing by Steve Pii deflected in off a Station defender. Near the end Dave Frewin made a nice pass to a wide open lain MacKay who beat the keeper with a low shot to seal the Rangers’ 3-0 victory. In the second half Capilano’s backs, looking more threatening than the opposition, saved the day. Clayton Wick sparked the revival with blazing speed to score a try, which Glen Audet converted. After Audet had touched down the winning try the locals needed some heroic tackling and a little help from Lady Luck to withstand a prolonged UBC cnsiaught in the dying minutes.
