Stolen items recovered WEST VANCOUVER Police and police dog Razz were called to the scene of a break, enter and theft earlier this month and recov- ered items stolen and hiddext nearby. Three fined for wheel theft THREE LOWER Mainland men were fined $400 each July 24 in West Vancouver provincial court after they pleaded guilty to steal- ing the wheels and tires from a car in West Vancouver. Stuart Charles Petterson, 19, and Steven William Wethal, 24, both of Surrey, and Richard Noel Holt, 22, of Vancouver, were jointly charged with thefi under $1,000 in connection with the June 22 incident. Public transit access improved PUBLIC TRANSIT Will be more accessible to bus riders with physical disabilities following a recent decision by the BC Transit board of directors. New buses ordered by BC Transit will come equipped with wheelchair lifts. And due to a policy revision, people riding in three-witeeled motorized scooters, can now travel on the . han- dyDART service. BC Transit is in the process of buying approximately 70 new diesel buses for use in the Vancouver region. The buses, slated for delivery early next year, will be the first to be equipped with wheelchair lifts in the transit system. Three-wheeled motorized scooter users have had access to han- dyDART since the beginning of July. The scooter users witt be able to ride handyDART for a 15- month test period. During that period, transit officials will be tak- ing measures to strike a balance between transporting people safely and providing mobility for people with disabilities. BC Transit has budgeted $50,000 to conduct crash tests, consider possible securement adjustments and discuss design specifications with scooter manufacturers.
