The Provincial Government has approved new Building Code regulations specifically for secondary suites. These rules pro- vide a practical way to regulate suite safety and gradually improve the quality of suites. In 1995, the District researched several aspects of secondary suites: developing a profile of suite owners and tenants;analysing the costs of installing a suite;and reviewing complaints and concerns about suites. Controls being considered Counelt is considering conditions and controls to address con- cerns about secondary suites,should they be permitted in resi- dential areas of the District.
