Golf and meeting men don’t mix MY youngest boy commented the other day that I've been so pre-occupied with moving lately that I've been neglecting the important things in life, like buying groceries and doing his laun- dry. “For erving out loud, Mother,” he scolded me, “you've even stopped play- ing golf. Get a grip on yourself!” That I would give up playing golf for a couple of * weeks in the middle of the summer is unusual indeed. hone as J am what you would call a serious goifer, [took the game up six years ago, to the great skepticism of everyone in my family, and ve applied myself to learning the game with tremendous dedication. The reasons for this are simple. First of all, as a beginner, you're likely a lousy golfer. You don’t know much about etiquette (so important in this game), you can’t hit the ball very far so you're likely to be slow, and you need a lor of work in the conversation department.
