Earth Justice project takes One Small Step for ecology ON ENVIRONMENT Sun- day this year, members of churches of several different denominations will commit themselves to taking One Small Step that will help to heal the pain and nourish the life of the planet Earth. In church services throughout Vancouver on Sunday, June 7, special attention will be given to the ways in which people can begin to undo some of the harm done to the earth. A highlight of each service will be a commitment by individuals to pledge themselves to one ongoing environmentally helpful action. Suggested actions range from replacing household cleaners with environmentally friendly products to spending time outdoors each day valuing the beauty of cre- ation; from forming a work crew Wednesday, June 3, 1992 - North Shore News - 45 -~<* to clean up a neighborhood to recycling used motor oil and bat- teries, from planting a garden or starting a compost heap to start- ing a car pool; from reading about Christianity and the = en- vironment to praying for the heal- ing of the earth. Individuals will be encouraged to use their imaginations to create their own new and unique expres- sions of care. One Small Step has been orga- nized by The EarthJustice Project of the Jubilee Community for Justice and Peace, a non-profit ecumenical organization commit- ted to weaving the threads of justice, peace and the integrity of creation into life. Environment Canada has helped to fund the project and many in- dividuals have volunteered their lime and energy. For more information call 433-6749.
