Plans for next year's centennial were unveiled at the event. “We want your ideas and sup- port for the centennial,"* North Vancouver District Mayor Marilyn Baker told guests representing the North Shore business and service community. “You can sign up to make Celebration LOO a success,” she said. Several major community pro- jects ure in the planning stage. The Celebration 100 centennial committee, of which Baker is chairman and Kay Staley coor- dinator, is commissioning a coat of arms for the District of North Vancouver. Another centennial highlight will be the district's hosting of the Festival of Arts in May 1991. According to Baker, it is ‘the largest’ festival in the country, if not North America."* ft will also require 800 local volunteers, and will bring 1,700 artists and musicians to town for a week-long event.
