Morris dancing is an ancient and energetic ritual fertility dance from England, where it traditionally welcomed the end of winter, hastened the resurrection of life at springtime and brought good luck to all who witnessed it. An ale is a gathering of Morris dancers intent on enjoying themselves and entertaining the local villagers. Male and female dancers from Vancouver, Victoria, the U.S. and England will combine with 20 dancers from Hong Kong to tour the ‘villages’ of the Lower Mainland.
