Van bowlers Elections British Columbia NORTH VANCOUVER bowlers rolled over the competition Sept. 14 in the 250 Club 10-Pin Tour- nament. To be eligible for the event, each bowler was required to have rolled a game of 250 or over during league play in the 1985-86 bowling season. The tournament, which attracted 39 bowlers, was divided into a pins over- average division and a scratch division, The top three bowlers in each division were awarded prizes of $150 for first place, $100 for se- cond and $50 for third place. Abbotsford’s Kyriakos Kalavesis bowled 77 pins over his average to win first place in the pins over- average division, Wayne Wolrich from North Vancouver rolled 74 pins over his average to take second place and Colin Smith, also of North Van- couver, won third spot after rolling 69 pins over his average. North Vancouver bowlers were the top three finishers in the scratch division. Curtis Kruschel bowled a five- game total of 1,047 to earn first place. Colin Shott was second with a 1,041 total for five games and Dean Jeffries took third place with a 1,020 five-game total. Bowling in the Lions Gate Ladies Trio League at Lions Gate Lanes on Sept. !5, Joan Dickey bowled three excellent games of 192, 199 and 200 for a total of 591. Also in the Lions Gate Ladies Trio, Jan Crock rolled a high four game series of 751 with games of. 206, 183, 171 and 191. Crock finished the !985-86 10- pin bowling season with a 186 average and represented Canada in Bogota, Columbia last year in the FIQ Tournament (Federation In- ternationale De Quillers or Inter- national Federation of 10-Pin), In the first night of league play in the Town 'n Country Ladies Trio, Crock bowled four games of 196, 173, 264 and 267 for a 900 series. Crock also scored well in the Friday Night Mixed Trio League with games of 209, 172, 192 and 190 for a 763 four-game total. Don Zerkee was the high man bowler in the Friday Night Mixed Trio League with 218, 233 and 226 scores. In the Men’s B.C. Ail Star League, Mark Innes led the scoring with games of 234, 192, 226 and 203 for an 855 total. Steve Butterley and Gary Cutler each bowled a single high game of 238. The junior bowlers at Thunder- bird Lanes began bowling on Sept. 7 and Melanie Teegen started the season by bowling three games of 99 each for a triplicate award, Electoral District TENNIS B.C. and Smirnoff have announced the Se- cond Annual Smirnoff Grand Prix B.C. Indoor Ten- nis Circuit. The circuit, begun in 1985, will again consist of three tournaments in 1986 with over $10,000 in total prize money available. Tennis B.C. program coordinator Scott Braley noted, ‘‘Players from across Canada, Washington, Oregon and California have been in contact with the Tennis B.C. office regarding the circuit. These players should provide some of the toughest competition cver for such local stalwarts as Tony Macken, Josef Brabenec Je. and Robert Bettauer." The first tournament will take place Oct. 2 to 5 at the Western Indoor Tennis Centre in Richmond. Blue Mountain Racquet Club in Coquithim will host the second tournament from Nov. 6 to 9. The final tournament will take place from Dec. 4 to 7 at the Burnaby Racquet Club. Top prize for each men's open event is $1,000 while $500 is available to the winners of the women’s open events. The first two tournaments feature singles events on- ly while the third tournament involves only doubles. Each tournament will also include an A category for which both the men’s and women’s winners will receive $100.
