By STEPHEN BARRINGTON News Reporter In a few weeks summer vacation will be over and North Shore stu- dents will be once more making their yearly trek back to school. North Shore schools this year open Sept. 2, the day after the Labour Day holiday. Last year, schools opened Sept. 3. Returning students this year will likely be pleased to discover that they have one less day of school to attend than in the previous year. This yeur’s schoo! days number 194 — last year’s school days numbered 195. Students gain an additional day this year because the Easter weekend does not coincide with the annual spring break. Last year, Easter Monday counted as part of the spring break, meaning one less holiday. Last June, 15,088 students walked the halls of North Van- couver’s 32 elementary schools and eight secondary schools. North Vancouver School Supt.
