Teen membership for summer

THIS SUMMER the North
Shore Family Y.M.C.A. is
offering a three month teen
membership which entitles
teens to the use of the weight

room (universal Gym
The Boy Scouts

organization has received a
grant of $15,000 to help the
Third West Vancouver
Group build a new cabin on
Hollyburn Ridge ciose to
Cypress Park.

Once the cabin is com-
pleted the Scouts hope to
make outdoor activities
available to their members,
and to other = supervised
youth groups, on a year
round basis. The Scouts
hope to complete all of the
work by the fall.

hundred groups throughout
the province.

Activity Centre there will be
plenty of opportunities for
carpenters, painters and
other budding young artists
to lend a hand to make the
centre your place. The ‘Y
also is offering a_ casual
employment referral service
for its summer teen mem-
bers.

The ‘Y’ is looking for
prospective employers with
lawns that need mowing,
basements to clean and
windows to wash, with hopes
that both the community and
teens can benefit from the
work experience.

The Teen membership
will also offer reductions on
our Outrip program. Ex-

citing week long hiking trips
along the Westcoast Trail,
canoeing im the Bowron
Lakes, or cycling in the Gulf
Islands, and shorter
weekend backpacking tps
up Black Tusk could prove
to ve the highhght of your
summer.

The North Shore Y, in
conjunction with Vancouver
Surtsailing Lid. will be
running halfday = in-
structional classes in wind-
suring. The course will
include both dryland
traiming and water work.
Everything is included
making this an ideal way to
learn this fast growing sport.
