26 — Sunday, February 15, 1998 — North Shore News Recycling program goes digital “THE North Shore Recycling Program (NSRP) is greening cyber-space with the launch of its North Shore Recycling volunteer program web page. The site hosts the Tap 40 Recycling Hits — practical house- hold hints from the Greater Vancouver 1 District that can help users bring their garbage down to size and minimize their impacts on the environment. Browse the hits in December's What’s New section of the site at www.district.north-van.be.ca/recyele or search North Shore Recycling using Yahoo or other search cngincs on the Internet. There are lots of ideas for exercising the first two Rs of waste reduction: reduce and reuse in your kitchen, clothes clos- et, living room, family room, home office, shed or garage. Visitors to the site can also learn about volunteer oppor- tunities with the program, including assisting with special events and displays, leading interactive classroom workshops, sharing recycling tips with community groups, designing dis- - play campaigns or offering advice on backyard and worm composting. The monthly volunteer newsletter is online to help prospec- tive volunteers avoid the paper trail while bringing themselves up to date on the outreach activities of the program. Avid surfers will appreciate the resources section which pro- vides a comprehensive listing that will lead browsers to other specially selected green sites located on the World Wide Web. North Shore residents will benefit from practical informa- tion about their blue box and blue apartment bag recycling programs along with tips on how to make use of the North Shore Recycling Drop-Off Depot, the North Shore Transfer Station and other services. The web site is a volunteer project of the North Shore Recycling Program, the municipal agency that coordinates recycling programs for the three North Shore municipalities.
