of its viscous coupling system.

The major advantage of this
system is that it. activates
automatically should the vehicle
suddenly hit patchy ice or snow.

In the Grand Cherokee and the
Grand Wageneer, Chrysler has
created a track that drives more
like a car.

Apparently, this is exactly what
customers are looking for in a
sport-utility vehicle.

The third new model introduced
in the past year is the Dodge
Viper sports car.

From start to finish, this car
took just three years to develop,
and its performance rivals that of
the famous Shelby Cobra sports
car.

The two-seater Viper is
powered by a massive 8.0 litre
V10 engine and will do 0 to 100
km/h in five seconds.

But the Viper was never intend-

ed to make a profit for Chrysler.
Its radical styling and perfor-
mance was meant primarily as an
image-maker and a symbol of
American engineering expertise.
.In_ addition to these North
American-built cars, Chrysler will
shortly be introducing its Mit-
subishi-sourced Dodge Colt and
Eagle Summit.

Now two- and four-door
sedans (the hatchback is gone),
these economy cars raise the
standards of small car handling
ang economy. :

, And there’s more.

In late 1993, Chrysler will in-
troduce its own subcompact, bas-
ed on the Dodge Neon show car.

In 1994, a new full-size pickup
will replace the aging Dodge Ram,
and in 1995, a new intermediate
sedan will replace the current
Dodge Spirit/Plymouth Acclaim,

With the momentum that.
Chrysler has gained over the past
year, it may. be able to shake off
its traditional image.

Much of the credit must go to’
