5 - Friday, February 2, 1990 - Nosth Shore News me -y Charades game ends in brawl NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP were called to break up a fight in a North Vancouver home Saturday night after several uninvited guests crashed a charades party. About a dozen people had been playing charades at a 400-block Seymour River Place residence when the uninvited guests, some armed with iron bars, showed up. The strangers were asked to feave. They refused, and an aiterca- tion ensued in the home's living room. A flying beer bottle struck and cut one man in the head. Several windows of the home were shattered. Police arrived and arrested four people. Those arrested were subsequently released. The police investigation continues. Duck race pre-event held GREAT CAPILANO River Duck Race organizers are holding a wacky quacky day this Sund»y at the Capilano Suspension Bridge and park to raise money for Rotary Club charities. At noon, waddle off and find a rubber duck hiding in the nature park and win prizes. At 2 p.m., cheer on local celebrities as they race their rubber ducks against the clock. The grand prize celebrity winner will receive $1,000 to be donated to a favorite charity. Between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., the park will be the place to see the Sweet Adelines, a barbershop quartet, Scottish bag pipers, children’s face painters, a balloon sculpturist, Big Duck and Rocky the Raccoon. A $5 admission fee enters a lucky duck in the Feb. 18 Great Capilano River Duck Race. Children under 12, accompanied by an adult, are free. All proceeds from the duck day will be donated to Rotary Club charities. Allsn Lionel Meredith was originally charged in connection with a Sept. 9, 1989 incident in which a female was assaulted. Appearing before Judge J.L.
