AN EARLY shot of the Lions Gate Bridge is dwarfed by an aircraft of decades past.

IN 1955, John and Violet Bish-
op opened John Bishop
Jewellers on Lonsdale.

Since that time, the North
Vancouver store was enlarged
several times before it was
moved in March of 1979 to its
present location at 1598 Lons-
dale Ave.

A family business, the jewel-
ry store includes the Bishops’
two sons, Wayne and Ron, who
both got a first-hand exposure
to the business at an early age.

Wayne Bishop apprenticed in
the manufacture and repair of
jewelry at a large Vancouver
factory, receiving his certificate

in 1967. He also studied
gemology, here and in Los
Angeles, carning his graduate
gemologist diplorma in 1970.

Ron Bishop completed his
apprenticeship in jewelry
manufacture and repair in 1970,
after having the year earlicr ob-
tained his diamond certificate.

In addition, Ron Bishop
learned the art of engraving and
since 1970 has been working in
that particular speciality at the
North Vancouver jeweler.

setter, he studied in Hawaii...
The Bishops are proud of
