unday, December 21, 1986 - North Shore News MAKE EVERTON House your home for Christmas shopping. Stylish yet not outlandish, Ever- ton House in Park Royal shopping mall has contemporary and smart fashions that are up-to-the-minute without being overly expensive. “Y don’t want to cater to one age group,’’ explains Patricia Wright, owner of Everton House. “T get granny too who wants to look swift and she’s in here.’’ One of this year’s hot gift items at Everton House is sweaters. “They have been doing extremely well,’’ says Wright, who points to one sweater by Amber. “Right now we have a three- quarter length sweater jacket in the window that people are always asking about,’’ she says. As well as the popular sweaters, Wright also carries a selection of dresses that are perfect for an evening out on the town — special dresses, she says. “Such as for the mothers of a bride or groom,” “They would go into (the group) you would call evening wear, but they’re not outlandish.”’ Sportswear too can be found in Wright’s store. Unlike other shops, the sportswear at Everton House is tailored to career-minded women ‘*not for outdoors.”’ To complement that pervect look, Wright carries a host of jew- elry accessories, much of which is made by local crafts people. ‘‘I have jewelry no one else has.”’ One local Lions Bay artisan crafts jewelry out of shells using gold and silver thread as well as other materials. ‘‘She has them in all different kinds,’’ she says. “This season she has done some with sequins and beads.”’ For something a little more flashy, there are the gold-plated works also by a local artisan. “‘Most of her work is done with metal,”’ explains Wright. Wright is careful to make sure her store is not duplicating the stock of other local boutiques and shops. ‘I ask if it’s in the depart- ment stores — if it is then forget it,” she says. ‘J try to get things that are not elsewhere.”’ She buys only one or two of a particular color or style. ‘‘So peo- ple don’t see themselves coming and going,”’ she says. ‘‘And they appreciate that.” When it comes to service at Everton House, the customer is number one. The staff of five have the expe- rience to deal with most customer wants. ‘We like a friendly at- mosphere,’’ she points out. ‘‘We greet the customer. “They'll get a warm welcome but they’re never pressured to buy anything,” she says. ‘‘We really strive to make this a very friendly atmosphere.” For parents, Wright as set up a child’s play area. Everton House is located in Park Royal’s south mall and is open daily. The phone number is 926-3818. Wright explains.
