Bring the whole family and join the fun on June 23rd. The eighth annual running of the North Shore News Sailing Race for cruising sailboats is set for Sunday June 23rd. The Race Course: Racers from previous years will be familiar with the course: from the start line, extending from Dundarave Pier to the Committee Boat, to a marker (leave to port) set 2 mile WSW off Point Atkinson Lighthouse: to the Point Grey Bell Buoy (leave to port); to a marker set 0.7 miles south of the center channel marker (leave to starboard); to the finish line off Kitsilano Yacht Club (sai! between the finish marker and the Committee Boat). The Start and Finish: The Committee Bgat will conduct the start at 10:00 a.m, All entrants must sail close by the Committee Boat and identify themselves well prior to the start. After crossing the finish line, please sail close by the Committee Boat to once again clearly identify your vessel. The race ends officially at 3:00 p.m. Any boats not across (or anywhere near) the finish fine at tha; time should start engines and proceed directly to Granville Island Market for mooragy. The Ceremonies: Will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m, in the auditorium just next to the Sea Wing Sailing School at 1818 Maritime Mews. Signs and batiners will clearly ideniyfy the location of the ceremony. Refreshments will be available and there will be entertainment for children and adults.
