Starting out in advertising sales, Dickson became more involved in photography and writing such successful columns as Inquir- ing Reporter and the Sunshine Girl. Terry Peters’ interest in photography began at an early age and continued as he grew up in Toronto, where he held his first photographic job as a studio apprentice. . He travelled and lived in many places, including England, Europe, Australia, and Long Beach before settl- ing in Vancouver in 1977. In 1978 he began work at the North Shore News and for the past five years has been in charge of the photography department. Peters, who also pursues a separate freelance career, has won nine awards in National and Provincial newspaper competitions. lan Smith, a native of Trail, B.C. arrived in North Van- couver in 1963. It was here that his keen interest in photography began and has continued since. Smith, who is self taught in photography, has also photographed and published a book on the History of the Annual Polar Bear Swim. | ~ .
