“Bits & Bytes’’ to teach
viewers the basics of personal
computing at home.

The new = series begins
January 19, with = student
registrations and _ learning
materials offered by all com-
munity colleges in B.C. plus
selected institutes and school
districts.

The twelve part series uses
sequences, on-location field
trips and a= selection of
popular microcomputers in
the studio to explore the
Practice and theory of

operating personal com-
puters. In each lesson the
viewer sees a *‘computer in-
nocent’’ student guided
through new material by an
informative tutor.

TWO NEW languages being
introduced into Night Train’s
tumetable are Polish and
Croato-Serbian. Knowing
these melodious languages
makes it easier to understand
Russian so if you intend
travelling to Poland,
Yugoslavia or Russia, (or
Marrying someone who
speaks these languages) these
night classes are a good place
to start. A new opportunity
for language learners.
Patricia Kramer is not a
newcomer to continuing
education’s staff, but one of
her courses in January 1s.

TV Ontario and was shown
in that province for the first
uume last year. It enjoyed an

10,000 students, with an ad-
ditional 13,000 enrollments
for the French edition shown
in Quebec.

premier showing of Bits &
Bytes in B.C. is a special
draw in which each of the 18
sponsoring educational in-
suitulions is giving away a
Commodore 64 personal

computer. Course enrollees
will automanically have their
names entered to win one of
the computers.
