Plan house repairs while you're away

Did you know that one of
the best times to have home
repairs done is when you're a
thousand miles away? For
example, have you ever had
the interior of your house
repainted when you have to
live in it at the same time?
Awful, isn't it?

The last time our whole
family went to Hawai for
three weeks we came home
to a spotessly repainted
home. The painter, the
father-in-law of a friend, had
an easy job, too. He could
take his time and didn’t have
to wait around for me to get
out of his way. Since 1
believe that there's no other
color except white to paint
inside walls, he could hardly
go wrong.

Surveying jobs for the

SAN FRANCISCO (UPI) - If
you're a bank teller,
stenographer or a_ sales
clerk, better figure on being
in another job in 10 years -
hike bioengineering, com-
munications or show
business.

A recent report by SRI
International, a_ think-tank
formerly known as_ the
Stanford Research Institute,
concluded:

Wash before storing

NEW YORK - Cold weather
comforters labeled washable
should be washed before
storing for the season, says
the Soap and Detergent
Association.

It recommends machine
washing of comforters with
synthetic fiberfill in warm
water with detergent or
soap. Heavily soiled or
spotted comforters should
be pretreated or soaked.

A short wash cycle is
recommended, and tumble
drying at whatever tem-
perature setting the
manufacturer Suggests.
Overdrying should be
avoided. The comforter
should be removed as soon
as the machine stops. For
large comforters, the
association says, use an
extra-capacity washer found
at most laundromats.
