in SNA competition

THE North Shore
News was recognized
for photographic and
editorial excellence
recently in the
Suburban Newspapers
of America awards
competition.

The News placed second
overall in the competition’s
Best News photo category
with an entry from News pho-
tographer Mike Wakefield.

His dramatic Hog Town
photograph captured a caval-

cade of Harley Davidson riders
on. their way to the North
Shore funeral of a Harley
Davidson mechanic.

The newspaper was also
awarded an honorable men-
tion in the Best Feature Photo
Story or Series category for
Ballroom Blitz.

News feature on ballroom
dancing.

Meanwhile, a five-part
series put together by sports
editor Andrew McCredie and
four Lower = Mainland
Publishing Ltd. newspaper
