they live or who their chil-
dren are.

In 1997, many of these
individuals will be found lost
and wandering, unable to
find their way, unsure of who
to call or where to turn. Most
will make it home.

There is no known cause
or cure for Alzheimer
Disease. Canadians spend
$3.9 billion a year on persons
with Alzheimer Disease relat-
ed dementias.

The Alzheimer Society of
B.C., working with the

- national program initiated by

Alzheimer Canada, provide a
Wandering Registry to help
those who are lost return
home again.

Working in conjunction
with local area police, the
Registry records, on a nation-

~ al database, vital information

about a person with dementia

to ensure their safe return.
In addition to the

Wandering Registry, the

Alzheimer Society of B.C.

provides:

- dementia and their caregivers;

® finding’ for research into
the causes and the cures, and
awareness about this devas-
tating and debilitating dis-
ease.
