Let's watch it everyone. QUESTION: My six year old son, Kris, has asked me to write. you his very sad story about his inseparable friend, a Red Setter named ‘Lady’. Lady is 5 years old. Kris and she have had a lot of fun together and some hard times too. Lady nearly drowned once and a Vet saved her. Once. she was hit by a car and her right front leg was shattered so it had to be removed. She learned to walk and run and gets around quickly and gracefully like Irish Setters do. Kris was broken-hearted about Lady’s leg and is very very proud of the way she has overcome her handicap. But now the pet has fleas and some sort of infectlon.She is really suffering terribly with the infection in her eyes and nose and ears. We have done everything we can to help her and her Vet says that he can do no more. He didu’t tell Kris, but he is afraid the Infection will get worse and perhaps affect her all sorts of guts. I think what brain. He wants. to put Lady. to sleep, but Kris cannot bear the thought of that and wants us to find a cure. Foor - Lady and poor Kris! Do you think we should go ahead and take the doctor’s advice, .or should we care for Lady = until the end? Kris wants me to read your reply to him. [I hope we get one before Lady dies]. STEWART: Dear Kris: Golly Kris I think I know how terrible you feel about Lady and about having to make this difficult decision. Once in a while in life we just have © to make a decision when there doesn't seem to be any I would do if I were in your spot would be to get Lady to -another doctor just as quick as you can in the hope that the. new doctor may just happen to know about some miracle drug that will help. But, if he feels Lady ought to be helped to sleep and freed from her awful suffer- ing, I'd gather up all my strength and, for Lady’s sake, I'd agree to put an end to her. pain. It’s hard to do Kris, but I believe if you think more about ‘‘Lady”’ it will help. It may be hard, and you may cry, but you'll be glad you did the best thing good answer at all. It takes for Lady.
