upon a 19-year-old North
Vancouver youth who
admitted to stealing one ski
from each of two separate
sets of skis almost one year
ago.

Judge Perry Millar fined
Robert Cook, of 2051 West
Keith Road, who had
pleaded guilty to a charge of
theft at.a prior court ap-
pearance.

“In effect you deprived
two people of their skis,”
commented Judge Millar.

“That will about equal the
value of the skis.”

The court was told by
Crown Counsel Pat Donald
that the alert operator of the
Village Ski Shop had
notified police’ when he
became suspicious because
he had noticed that Cook
was skiing on slopes at
Cypress Provincial Park with
mismatched skis.

Police discovered the skis
had belonged to Seattle skier
and in a statement to police,
the accused admitted to
stealing the skis at Whistler
in January of 1978.

Questioned by Judge
Millar as to why he took one
ski from each of two pairs,
Cook replied:

“I broke one of my skis
and I saw these two pair of
