The students, ranging in age from 19 to 57, are going to Nepal in a unique travel study program which will in- volve studying in Katmandu at the University of Tribhuvan and spending a month on a trek through the Himalayas. While there, they will be taking credit courses in Geography, An- thropology and Biology. “The students are really keen.” says Geography in- structor Terry Brown, who will be going along with An- thropology instructor Karen Lind and Biology instructor Carole Stanley from UBC. He explained that they are working on their fitness this fall individually and by clim- bing the Lions on weekends to get in shape for the trek. which will take them to an altitude of 18,000 feet. The trip is scheduled to leave January {8 and return in carly May, with the last week being spent in Bangkok, but most of the students have taken the op- tion to travel for an extra few weeks on their own before returning.
