balls with a sealer and paint a
bright pattern or traditional
Yuletide scene on them. Plain
new balls can be brought
alive with color as well. Small
wooden cut-outs of a Santa,
sleigh, reindeer, or manger
scene are available for pain

ting and mag be light enough
to hang on the tree. If too
heavy as a tree decoration,
they make lovely centrepieces
to adorn mantlepiece, coffee
table or dining room table
Ordinary egg cups, salt and
pepper shakers, candlesticks,
spice racks and serving bowls
are recreated into appealing
and enjoyable gifts by a few
strokes of the brush.
Surprisingly, technique

and practice, rather than
natural born talent, are need-
ed for successful tole
painting.

Anyone that has the pa-
uence and enjoys taking time
to practice, can excel in the
art which dates back over 200
years, Kolarcik says
