two-cents-worth in.

Help for animal victims

Dear Editor:
On. the 1ith of June 1980 I
had the honour of presenting
to Miss Jeanne Werner,
President of the Washington
State Federation of Humane
Societies a cheque to the
equivalent of $14,325.50 as
the first installment from the
W.A.I.N. FUND which was
instituted to alleviate the
suffering of innocent animals
in distress as a result of the -
recent eruption of St.
Helens.

The. generosity displayed
by all donors to the fund was
not only most heart-warming

the South.

The success of the fund
exemplifies a quotation by
M. Kerizer.

purer act of goodness than
helping one’s neighbour, for
it is done without any hope
of receiving a return.” —M.

I took sick about a year
and a half ago and it got so
bad I figured my number. was
up. They put me in the Lions
Gate Hospital and the folks
there did a good job to keep
me going (especially Dr.
Craff-Sr. and Jr.). Everything
that had to be done for me
was done ... no complaints,
but I was still pretty weak
when the time came for me
to leave. Well, they trans-
ferred me to the Lonsdale
Hospital and in no time at all

I could say it was the good
food which is served
promptly and piping hot
three times a day. Likewise I
could say it is the way every-
thing is kept clean and tidy
(no small chore)< But I think
more than anything it was
the “angels of mercy” that
pulled me through and made
me feel like somebody,
angels disguised as nurses.
Where the hospital finds
these girls I don’t know but
