Only powerhouse Carson Graham and _ Hillside managed to buck the-trend in the opening week of the 1982-83 season. First win of the year came to the Eagles when Windsor came visiting to a crushing 70-23 welcome. Highscorers for Carson were Kelly Payne (17), Janet Helm (12) and Linda - Buchanan (10). Allison Baker earned 10 for the Dukes. ‘Next day, on Wednesday, the Eagles travelled out to Lynn Valley to deal Argyle a hefty 67-20 loss. Buchanan was top scorer this time with 19, followed by Payne with 16. In their only game of the week, Hillside visited Windsor Thursday and went home with a 54-15 souvenir. Highwaymen ‘ were Lisa Wild with 15 and Mandy Grant withi4. ; Sentinel was the. only other school. ‘to nail ‘down two wins in the opening week. This exciting contest. finished in victory for the Blues with a score of 11-7. Rhett Martin proved to be the vortex of the scoring hurricane. 4 goals and 4 assists were his day's tally. Myles Rosser was another North Van standout with 2 goals and 5 assists. Len Messier has a busy day with a goal and 2 assists.
