To respectfully su t Trevor Lautens enrol ASAD. In recent weeks, he has written columns regarding the proposed West Van arts centre which were fraught with error, misquotes (according to the quoted) and a glaring lack of research! Now ( March 19, North Shore News) he states that “even WVCC secently reject: ed joining with = North Vancouver's Commerce.” This is patently incorrect and also second: hand. In fact, the WVCC mem- Chamber of bership are generally in favour of a merge with the NVCC, however have decided a some: what longer courtship ty pru- deni betore the marriage. The mutual relauonship “as never been better, the number of joint-venture projects ison the increase, commMuMeatiON ix ever improving and one could surmise that amalgama- tion may be inevitable. Thank yeu Trevor for your concern but please return after class and Fil gladly spend some quality time to ensure you have the facts — not per- ceptions. John E. Clark, President West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Clarifying costs of painting B.C. buses Dear Editor: Re: recent “Paint job” ler- ter to North Shore News editor from Sue Cook. She writes fairly typical views about the cost of some items of B.C. Transit, which are unfortunately crroncous. B.C. Transit buses are actually white to begin with. A red and blue stripe is decaled or painted on top at the appropriate location. To omit those colours at this time is correct as they may indeed change. In any event, it is part of the cost of business to paint equipment at given intervals. A cost yes, not an extra cost, and to leave out the other colours is actually a saving at this time. If, in the end, the colours remain the same, it will again be a cost already included in budgets, not extra, to apply the blue and red. If they change, then they change. The cost of paint and labour remains the same, not extra, As far as uniforms go, drivers are already provided with uniforms, Ifa driver is due for a new one, there is no extra cost in providing a new one for a new company, since he/she is to get one anyway. Again, a cost of doing busi- ness, already provided tor, not an extra cost. By the way, $500 would probably buy at least three uniforms. Stu Lawson North Vancouver Dear Editor: Tam a dog owner, and it seems I am a minority because I pick everything up that comes out of the south end of my canine buddies. **T have two Husky crosses that need lots of time out on the trails. Recently while walking my dogs on the Lynn Creek nature access trail I was con- fronted by two “professionai” dog walkers who it seems had bit off more than they could chew. I didn’t count how many dogs they had under their control, but I think the num- ber was way too many. The dogs took so much of their attention just keeping them in line, that they failed to notice the trail of poop their “herd” was leaving. TE remember a recent arti- cle about limiting the num- ber of canines these people can walk at one time and I think chat this is just one of many reasons for such legisla- tion.
