It was a horrible thing the government did. A bad dream. It was just like be- ing in jail. Five generations suf- fered from that system.’ FOR VOLUNTEERS caregivers of dependent people. A former caregiver is preferred for this position. The hours are flexible and orientation is pro- vided. BE A friend and role model, help build self-esteem and have fun with women who are mothers. The volunteer must be a woman between 25 and 44 years of age and have good parenting and listening skills. Training at monthly meetings is provided. A PLAYRGOM assistant who enjoys children is needed to supervise pre-schoolers at a drop-in centre. In-service train- ing is provided, and the hours are flexible. HANDBELL ringers are looking for a leader with a knowledge of music interpreta- tion for the 1992 season. There are 10 players and a fine set of brass bells. A SURROGATE family is needed to share special occa- sions with two mentally handi- capped men (in their 40s), who are in wheelchairs and moving to a group home in Lynn Valley.
