COMPUTER WINNER STRACHAN COMPUTERS, with outlets in North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Coquitlam, recently awarded a free Laser PAL 286 computer system to Burnaby resident Ray Boisvert, who had entered a draw at the Pacific Rim Computer and Com- munications Show. The PAL 286 is billed as an ex- cellent system for the user who desires a full-featured, powerful, easy-io-use package with power to expand into the future. ft inciudes a 286 CPU, 40MB hard drive, both 5.25 inch and 3.5 inch high-density floppy drives plus a VGA color monitor. In ad- dition, the package contains a three-button mouse, Geoworks Ensemble software and an in- stallation video tape. NEW COMPANY WEST VANCOUVER-based Power Model Placement is now working as a liaison between North American models and their agencies and Japanese agencies based in Tokyo and Osaka. Power Model Placement makes trips to Japan to promote a select group of models using video tapes, mini-books and 35 millimetre photographs. **Our recent experience working with Japanese agents has shown that promoting models by sending packages alone is no longer effec-. tive,’’ said co-managing director Tiffany Price. ‘‘Japanese agents are apprehensive about accepting models after having seen a mini book alone. Power is set up to give personalized representation." Power signs the model up at a fee of five per cent of the model’s gross earnings on the initial con- tact. Power then pays the parent vagent three per cent of the model’s gross earnings. The agents Power deals with in Japan are contacts the company has made from modeling in Japan for eight years, and the company recently completed a successful trip to Tokyo representing models of such Vancouver agencies a5 Carol Jackson, Ze Models and Kirk Talent. Another trip is planned for February. ot nll NEWS photo Hell Lucente RAY BOISBERT, feft, gets a fesson on a new Laser PAL 286 computer sysiem from Peter Pedersen, district manager of Vtch Laser Computers Ltd., and Richard Strachan of Strachan Com- puters Ltd.
