18 - Wednesday, June 27, 1990 - North Shore News GOBS lick the Salty Dogs IT WAS softball action at its best at Columbia Park in Van- couver, Saturday, as the North Shore Good Old Boys (GOBS) overcame a 6-0 deficit to defeat the league-leading Salty Dogs in Lower Mainland Salty Dog Softball League action. The GOBS fell behind early but rallied for four runs in the fourth inning, followed by another four in the fifth inning to take an 8-6 lead. But in the top of the seventh inning the Salty Dogs mounted a rally of their own to tie the score. Then, in the GOBS’ half of the seventh, pitcher Blair Cooke-Dallin — hitting four for four on the day — pounded the first pitch over the right field wall to score the winning run. Outstanding defensive play by Dave Turnbull, and Rick Dunn sparked the GOBS to the win. Carl Markerth had three RBI's off a triple to deep cight field in the fourth inning. Jack Hetherington went three for three, white Brian Calder, Peter Fentiman, and Kirk Costello ait hit two for four. Having won four of their last six games, the win brings the GOBS*' record to four wins and Ht losses as they make a drive for the playoffs. The North Vancouver resident is an International Skating Union judge for singles and pairs and an ISU referee for dance st World and Olympic competitions. She has judged three senior World and seven junior World competitions as well as a large number of international competi- tions. Moore was chairman of the B.C. section of the CFSA for two years and a CFSA board of directors member for six years. Pres- ently she is the technical advisor for, and sits on the board of directors of, the B.C. section of the CFSA. A new system of evaluating the test skaters in Canada was passed at the meeting and Moore is one of those chosen to train the judges and coaches in B.C. in this new system.
