TIMOTHY & RENSHAW: table hopping The ale, one of the numerous custom-made natural brews pro- duced by Horseshoe Bay’s Horse- shoe Bay Brewing Co., was last served in the Troller in October 1987, Its return to the Troller was heralded in March 10 with the help of Lance Harrison and his band and to the hearty applause of real-ale hounds all over the North Shore. Meanwhile the Horseshoe Bay Brewing Co. continues to be one : of the most inspiring homegrown eg business success stories to spring . from North Shore soil in the past few years. It was founded by brewmaster David Bruce-Thomas in early 1988 : after the Horseshoe Brewery was he closed in September of 1987 by Troller Pub ownership. The new cottage brewery now re serves custom brews to a host of local pubs and restaurants in- cluding Troll’s, Ya-Ya‘s Oyster Bar, the Boathouse and the Troller in . Horseshoe Bay and the Rusty Gull " in North Vancouver City. , In addition to refloating the brewery, Bruce-Thomas designed and developed a unique tank ser- vice delivery system for his brews. One of the systems was recently installed at Leon’s bar and grill beneath Vancouver's Raintree res- taurant. He is also seeking investment to begin bottling his various ales, which are all made with English a malts and Canadian water — a bracing Commonwealth combina- tion. The brewery is currently at draft capacity. Bruce-Thomas therefore plans to sink $25,000 into an ex- pansion that will almost triple his i brewery’s draft beer production ve output. All real ale lovers salute his ef- forts.
