In a competition in Regina last week that was used partly to determine membership of the team, Botnen finished fourth in the compulsories and seventh over-all, despite a hyper- extended knee just before the optionals. She earned the first alternate spot on the eight member team and will compete if any of the first six are unable. ENTER AINMENT eAUTO «TV ‘S Bi PLACES Botnen had a score of 35.6 after the compulsories and still managed a 32.25 and a ninth place score in the optionals, despite the knee. The Moscow m* pionships will take place from November 20 to 30. The team will be led by Elfi Schlegel of Toronto who won the Regina competition. Other members of the team are Ann Marie Deserres of Quebec, Bonnie Wittmier and Monica Goermann of Manitoba and Leanne Gallant, Sheri Hawco and Kelly Brown (alternate) of Ontario. Schlegel and Goermann are veterans of the team that competed in the 1979 world championships, where Canada placed 10th. North Shore does well in cross country Several North Shore runners competed in the lith annual Abbotsford Cross Country Meet on September 26, coming back with good performances, including one first place finish. Signd Alto finished first in the Girls 11 year = old category, while another North Shore girl, Darcie Montgomery, placed 15th. Sigrid’s sister, Ingrid Alto, finished in second place in the 15-16 Girls, Wendy Montgomery placed Sth in the 13-14 Girls, and Dylan Griffith came jn 10th in the 10 year old boys category.
