6 - Sunday, Jane 11, 1989 ~ West Vancouver Villager HADDON HOUSE Preschool reunion held OVER 300 people turned out to celebrate. Haddon House Pre- School’s 22nd anniversary, at a reunion held on Sunday, May 7. Former parents, students and teachers gathered at the home of Esther Fielder, the West Van- couver preschool’s owner and op- is to deal equally with the social, intellectual, physical and emo- tional needs of each child in a lov- ing family setting. The preschool wzs established 22 years ago, after Fielder was ap- proached by a delegation of parents who urged her to open a pre-primary school]. At that time, there were no five-year-old kindergartens in the West Van- couver public sckools. For more information on the preschocl -—- which also offers ballet and gymnastics — call Fielder at 922-2272. ONE OF tinseltown’s busiest actors and Academy Award nominee for ‘‘Mississippi Burning,’? the rugged Gene Hackman, has arrived in Vancouver for his starring role in the feature movie, ‘“Narrow Margin.’’ He and his co-star, Anne Archer (she played the wife in the Glenn Close-Michael Douglas box office hit, ‘‘Fatal Attraction’’) will be here until the end of August. And while I’m not allowed to tell you exactly where they’re bedding down, Gene had his agents searching for either a luxurious houseboat or a big house in a quiet area of West Vancouver... A new resident of the West Shore is glamorous model and former CKVU-TV hostess, Pamefa Hart, nee Holmes. She was the actress who recently wrapped up the seven segments of Cannell Films’ ‘*Wise Guy” musical arc series with star Jerry Lewis. Jerry played a top New York fashion distributor, and Pam played the role of his wife. And despite the fact that Lewis has a reputation of being difficult to work with, Pam said he was an absolute darling! She also got along very well with Jerry’s real-life wife Sandi, who stayed at Le Meridien with Jerry for the two months of filming. And while Jerry and Sandi travel everywhere with their two tiny dogs, Sandi was ecstatic to finally learn that, at 38, she was expecting her first child. Pam's kept in touch with Jerry and Sandi since they departed, and it was just a few days ago that she learned that Sandi has since lost the ex- pected baby... erator, to share memories and en- joy good food and weather. Fielder was pleased with the turn-out. ‘It was lovely,’ she said. ‘‘Two generations were pres- Protect Your Winter Woolens | | ent at the reunion. Lots of West Vanners showed up for the fun as Debra and Neil Tiss- ington launched their posh new Neto Leather shop in Gastown last week. To mark the occasion, the Tissingtons organized a gala fund-raising evening auction to benefit Ballet B.C. Their PR lady, Caren Reynolds, did a bang-up job on promotion of the event, and came up with such auction items as a day on the set of “The Beachcombers’’ with Bruno Gerussi, Martha Sturdy jewelry, Neto leather outfits, heli-skiing and having your own private eye! West Van's elegant fashion tady, Kay Alsop, handled the emcee chores with great aplomb. One of those bidding and spending a good bit of her husband’s bankroll was the Properties’ Mrs. Harry Moll. That ebullient bundle of charm and energy, Susie Moll, paid $2,000 for herself and three other ladies to have dinner at the Four Seasons with The Pez, and then won the $1,500 bidding for a dinner party created and cooked uy by Umberto Menghi! The North Shore’s Nick Massee, head of private banking for the Bank of Montreal, also paid out $2,000 for tennis doubles against Peter Brown and Nelson Skalbania. Nick's secret weapon will be his partner, the Canadian Junior under-14 champion, Sonya Jeyaseetan. And if Nick and Scnya win the match, Peter and Nelson have to fork over another $3,000 to Ballet B.C.... - And while I couldn’t be there as one of the auction items because of a painful neck injury, Sheila Begg, the president of the Board of Governors of Ballet B.C. won the bid to have lunch with me at Umberto’s Al Porto. o2s. looking forward to that! ...
